The most dangerous drug in the world - crystal, crank, Tina, methamphetamine or more commonly known
as meth. The epidemic of meth use that has infected the United States is now spreading to Europe
and the rest of the world. Destroying the lives of individuals, families and communities, meth
threatens to undo the very fabric of our world.

Artist Zefrey Throwell works from personal experience with the horrors of meth. Throwell's
father was a life long drug addict and died from a meth overdose 7 years ago. Using this tragedy
to illuminate the perils of meth, Throwell has created a piercing body of work. The series
entitled At last... rest are large portraits made from the human ashes of Throwell's
cremated father. The remains still contain traces of meth which serve as both a deadly warning
to those still living and a deeply personal memorial to a father who has passed on.

'Sucked Up in the Devil's Bed'
Leopold Hoesch Museum
These pieces initially were shown at a solo presentation I had a the Leopold Hoesch Museum in Germany.
Alas they were destroyed when they returned to the U.S. by Hurricane Sandy. My mother, eternally the best mom alive,
took pity upon me and gave me her share of my father's ashes and I was able to make new portraits. The new ones are the ones
above, numbers 9 -16. The ones below, numbers 1 - 8 were shown at Leopold Hoesch Museum.
